As part of the Development Services Department, the role of the Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Division is to assist the public and the County in the review of land use projects requiring the approval of the designated County Land Use Authority, ie. the Director of Development Services, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustments, or County Council.

The P&Z Division also provides the following services:

Current and long-range land use planning
Land use review and permitting
Land use code enforcement
Countywide planning assistance and collaboration
Regional trail coordination
Floodplain review
